Waste Management
Overview
The NCFE Level 1 & 2 Award in Waste and Recycling Management is designed to equip individuals with foundational knowledge and practical skills for the waste management sector. The qualification prioritises two critical outcomes: preparing learners for employment (“Work Ready” status) and fostering environmental sustainability through Circular Economy thinking. A significant portion of the curriculum is dedicated to operational safety, specifically focusing on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hazardous manual handling mitigation, and comprehensive fire safety protocols. Key takeaways include the legal obligation of employers to minimise manual handling risks, the necessity of rigorous fire risk assessments, and the precise application of various fire extinguishing agents based on the class of fire encountered.
